Florence

I got home from my Italian holidays 2 weeks ago but I still can't get over how beautiful Florence was. We spent one full day exploring the stunning capital of Tuscany and even though I had heard stories of Florence before, nothing could compare to actually being there and experiencing it all.

One day in Florence

Ponte Vecchio or Old bridge and the area around it is truly beautiful, with small and romantic streets and then suddenly a huge open space that is the Arno river. Ponte Vecchio is not a normal bridge - walking over it feels like walking on a normal street because you're surrounded by houses that are built on the bridge. I recommend visiting Ponte Vecchio both during the day and the night, it's a completely different experience during the dark with live Italian music playing in the background.. so romantic.

The historic centre of Florence is stunning and you can spend hours just walking around stopping for gelato every once in a while. When in Florence you must definitely visit the Uffizi gallery (home to Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus"), Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (also known as the Duomo) which is absolutely MAGNIFICENT and Piazza della Signoria where Palazzo Vecchio is located along with a copy of Michelangelo's David.

Located on the other side of the Arno river, is the Palazzo Pitti. Unfortunately we didn't have enough to visit the palace, but we managed to visit the the Boboli Gardens behind it. It was ridiculously hot that day (around 38 degrees) and the heat was unbearable but after the slight climb we found a spot in the shade and took in all the beauty. A visit to the Bardini Gardens was also included in the ticket and I strongly suggest you to take advantage of that. The Bardini Gardens are relatively unknown which makes it a wonderful place to relax and stroll around without masses of people bothering you. And let me tell you, the views over the city from the gardens were absolutely stunning.

In the evening we took bus 13 from Stazione di Santa Maria Novella to go to Piazzale Michelangelo which has panoramic views over the city to watch the sunset. It was such a wonderful experience - we were drinking white wine in one of the most beautiful cities in the world watching the sun go down and eating a melon with prosciutto. Afterwards we walked down the hill back to the city centre and discovered a dam across the Arno river, so we sat there and watched the city go dark. Holiday goals.

I was wearing a striped off the shoulder top and a denim skirt from Zara, a choker from Asos, sunglasses from Zaful and Adidas Stan Smith trainers

here are some photos of an early morning stroll in Victoria Park just after I had gotten back from Italy. I am super in love with this white off-the-shoulder blouse, I think it's perfect for summer (don't know how much of that we've got left though HA). and those old skool Vans have officially become my favourite pair of shoes.
